I inflated my "fitness ball" with a bike pump yesterday and it completely wore me out. Is this a bad sign from the exercise gods?

It could be, but maybe it's not. It could be that something as simple as working out more could help you. I feel that you should stretch out and even have a preliminary workout prior to inflating the fitness ball. I truly feel that this would ease your transition into the strenuous activity that working with a bike pump requires.
